Lisa Jey Davis: Award-winning author, speaker, humorist, and creator of Ms. Cheevious.
Lisa Jey Davis has spent a lifetime discovering that life has impeccable comedic timing. Thankfully for her readers, she recognizes those moments, and writes them all down.
An award-winning author and speaker, Lisa has built a career around finding the humor in life’s wonderfully unexpected detours. Whether navigating Hollywood, raising two boys as a single mom, surviving menopause and women’s health issues, or simply trying to make it through an ordinary Tuesday, she has an uncanny knack for stumbling into the kind of Lucille Ball-esque situations many would forget about, or swear could never have happened.
Long before she became an author, Lisa worked behind the scenes in television production and freelance talent management on one-hour television specials for MTV, CBS, the NFL, and other major networks and production companies. She later founded Jey Associates Marketing & PR in Los Angeles, combining her love of storytelling with helping others build their own careers.
Known to thousands of readers as the creator of Ms. Cheevious, Lisa has spent years proving that life’s best stories rarely begin with everything going according to plan. Instead, they begin with awkward moments, unexpected twists, and the realization that someday you’re either going to laugh about this… or write a book… or both.
That book, Lisa Jey Davis’ memoir, became Ms. Cheevious in Hollywood: My Zany Years Spent Working in Tinseltown, a memoir that earned the Best Unpublished Manuscript award at the New York Book Festival before publication and later became a #1 Amazon Bestselling New Release. In 2025, Lisa celebrated its tenth anniversary with a special edition published through IngramSpark, where it reached #1 in the Single Parenting category.
Part Hollywood memoir, part comedy, and part proof that life is often stranger than fiction, Ms. Cheevious in Hollywood follows Lisa’s post-divorce adventures as she balances television production, single motherhood, celebrity encounters, dating disasters, and enough unbelievable moments to make readers wonder whether any one person could possibly have this much material. (Spoiler alert: she did.)
Lisa is also the author of Ahhhhhh… Haaaaaa Moments with Ms. Cheevious, a yoga and wellness eBook, and is currently writing Getting Over Your Ovaries: How to Make the Change of Life Your Bitch, a humorous survival guide for women navigating menopause, hormones, hot flashes, and the realization that nobody really prepared us for any of it.
Her writing has appeared in Huffington Post and 2BStronger.com (under the former Livestrong.com banner), where she has written about women’s health, fitness, relationships, resilience, and finding humor in life’s more challenging chapters. As a BRCA2 mutation carrier, Lisa Jey Davis has also shared her personal journey through preventive surgeries and life after diagnosis, hoping to encourage other women facing difficult decisions with honesty, empathy, and the regularly-scheduled, well-timed laugh. Frequently invited to provide her opinions and commentary on related stories (i.e. Angelina Jolie’s choice), she has appeared in the Emmy Award-winning, nationally syndicated television show “The Doctors,” the CW (KTLA), and a variety of news programs and radio shows; she has also been quoted in major newspapers, magazines and online publications. She has also written extensively about women’s health, fitness, relationships, and reinvention.
Whether she’s writing, speaking, or simply collecting material for her next story, Lisa Jey Davis believes life is simply too entertaining to take too seriously. She lives in Santa Monica, California, with her husband, actor Tom Schanley, her favorite partner in mayhem. Together they continue to collect adventures, laugh often, and, whenever possible, enjoy every moment.
